This Ryan was sold new through Irwin representative, Major Hugh Watson, to Edward Spence in Michigan.
In the late summer or early fall of 1937 it was sold to Frank Brooks. Brooks was a Navy Test Pilot who was killed while testing an airplane during WWII.
In 1946 the aircraft was delivered to the Ryan school of Aeronautics. The airplane was destroyed while a student was practicing forced landings without his instructor. No further details known.
