History
This Ryan was sold new on August 20th, 1937 to Mr. Guillermo Tamayo. The aircraft was crated and shipped by rail to new Orleans, Louisiana. Then put aboard a ship (Aluminum Line) to Caracas.
Shortly after it was assembled in Caracas, Mr. Tamayo had an accident with the plane and it was again crated and shipped back to the Ryan plant for San Diego, California for repairs.
Mr. Tamayo had planned to visit the United States during the months of February, March and April. He had hoped to also visit the Ryan factory, pick up the plane after repairs and also take some dual instruction before returning to Caracas. He was associated with the Santiago Development Corporation of New York City. It was not until July of 1938 that the ship was completed and shipped back to Caracas.
Finally it was reported via a letter to Ev Cassagneres by the Aviation Headquarters of the Ministry of War and Navy in Caracas that on December 23rd, 1940 the airplane was destroyed in an accident and that all papers pertaining to it had been cancelled. Final disposition unknown parts could still exist.
